SunTrust Lobby Renovations - Washington DC
This project included modifications to the existing building to suit a modern and updated bank lobby and to enhance the functionality and workflow within the bank. The original building was made up of four separate structures constructed in 1888, 1916, 1925 and 1985. The oldest construction was brick arches supported on cast iron beams. The second and third structures were flat arch terra cotta floors spanning between encased steel beams. The newest structure is a more modern conventional reinforced concrete system. Our scope of work included installing supports for new glass walls to separate conference & meeting space from the public bank lobby/branch space, installing stand-alone interior offices/meeting rooms which required extensive survey and analysis of the old structural systems, including reinforcing the slab where required.
