Major Social Media Company Tenant Improvements - Washington, DC

This project included a complete interior renovation of a 5-story tenant space in Washington, DC. The major renovations for this project was designing the reinforcement for two full size commercial kitchens. Also included in the design of these new kitchens was the reinforcement for large openings through multiple floors for new kitchen ductwork. The reinforcement design for these two kitchens and shaft openings included the use of both structural steel beams and carbon fiber reinforcement.

The other major renovation for this project was the reinforcement design for a large data center. This data center was reinforced with steel beams below the structural slab.

Among other smaller renovations included in this project was the design of a concrete ramp and steel stair between floors, removing and reinstalling new lighter weight fill on top of the existing slab to decrease the existing load, and reviewing the location of multiple new mechanical units on the roof.

Our office also provided construction administration throughout the construction phase. We worked closely with the Contractor to provide our observations and to help quickly remediate any construction challenges during installation for all of these design items.
